Kalàscima (Italy)

The modernization of traditional music takes new forms with one of Italy's hottest bands.

The uniqueness of Kalàscima lies in the innovative way its members use a spectacularly vast array of instruments and percussion from South Italy and from all over the world, to mesh the ancient traditional ritual dance music of Taranta (from Salento), with electronic music. The band's latest album Psychedelic Trance Tarantella is a World Music chart topper.

Shaolin Fez (Hong Kong)

Grounded in a combination of classical, jazz and rock musicians, whose music is equally as diverse.

Led by HK Philharmonic bassist Samuel Ferrer, Shaolin Fez is grounded in a combination of classical, jazz and rock musicians, whose music is equally as diverse. The group's debut album Calm Your Storm included 22 professional musicians, a children's choir, and was mixed by one of Hollywood's most accomplished engineers. This Acid-jazz group will take us on a musical travelogue with visits to Latin America, Italy, China, Arabia, Spain, and the USA.
