alva noto (Germany) + ryuichi sakamoto (Japan)
A stunning audiovisual performance that enthralls the senses!
A cascade of evocative notes and real-time video images
A symphony of acoustic and digital sounds
Forming the fabric of a poem interwoven with sensuous logic
Top Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto's music is as impressionistic as Erik Satie's and as experimental as Harold Budd's. Here, the electronic keyboard master combines his unique approach to composition with BTTB (Back To The Basics) philosophy in a collaboration with German electronic musician and visual artist alva noto. Expect some ground-breaking results.
alva noto's (aka Carsten Nicolai) real-time digital treatment transforms Sakamoto's music into boundless sonic and visual spaces. A simple LED screen installation and display of digital symbols focuses and elevates the mind, helping to cleanse both body and soul.
Released in 2005, the album insen created a dialogue between the acoustic and digital, illustrating the evolution of 21st century multi-media art. The artists' subsequent European tour caused a great sensation. This concert marks Sakamoto's first return to Hong Kong in many years. One of 2006's most anticipated events!
"insen artfully interweaves delicate Satie-like piano motifs and
elegantly distressed electronic textures... (the on stage LED
screens) added a sublime audiovisual dimension, with abstract
sound paintings triggered by the music" ¡V The Times
